I can’t see the English football authorities having jurisdiction over a foreign footballer involved in a non football activity in his domicile country.

Yeah, I agree this wouldn't have happened without it being disclosed.

There's more merit in my conspiracy theory that he was doing his community service to clear it off before a potential Jan transfer. But if that was the case I'm not sure why that would be hidden either. He would surely have done that in the summer months rather than participate in early pre season friendlies.
