Yes, we had thumped them in the league prior to that, our team came out looking quite confident and Oxford looked very determined, it all went terribly wrong fast!

I'm pretty sure one week before the final we played them at the Manor ground and drew
3-3, huge rangers following at the game, we nearly never got in due to leaving pub 1450.

I remember going there in the 70's, a train load of us done the walk to the ground. I was surprised by how many Oxford herberts were up for it that day

Very annoying dispatching 2 of the powerhouses of English football at the time plus Chelsea on way to final and then being garbage in the final! Oxford had a really easy ride to final too!! Liverpool one league and FA Cup that year too!!!
