I think what you will find is that most people actually questioned his lack of English.

I really rated De Canio.... I was shocked when he left and when we appointed Dowie that was when I knew there was something wrong!

Dowie's wasn't to bad either

as was Venables or Gerry Francis (first time)

Dave Sextons was one of the best
