GORDON STRACHAN is closing in on QPR's £1.75million winger Wayne Routledge.

Middlesbrough manager Strachan has been in talks with the Hoops about a deal for the former Crystal Palace, Spurs and Aston Villa wideman, 25.

But Boro boss Strachan is keen to sign him as a probable replacement for Adam Johnson, who is being chased by a host of Premier League clubs.

Aston Villa midfielder CRAIG GARDNER, 23, is set to complete a £3.5m move to second city rivals Birmingham today.

Stoke striker DAVE KITSON has snubbed QPR.
