Good luck to them and good luck to West Ham.

Decent? Were you aware of his earlier life as a pornographer and the various allegations against him regarding his conduct during that time. Good in a football sense I grant you, but not exactly decent.

I do mean in the footballing sense. I mean in the way they conduct themselves at the club and towards other club.

If it were a choice between them with their history or Briatore with his and Mittal's history then I would rather Sullivan and Gold everyday.

Can't remember reading about slave labour or death (allegedly) at anything Sullivan and Gold have been involved in.

As a lapsed Hammer myself - one season when I was 7 to be precise cos I lived around the corner - and with Hammers supporters in the family, I wish them all the best.

I listened to interviews with Gold/Sullivan on the radio this afternoon. Both delighted to have secured ownership and both keen to secure the future of WHU. Bit of a concern they've only bought 50% (though I think Gold has the option on the other 50% within 4 years?), and a huge concern that they've paid all that money to inherit a club with over £100m of debt and in danger of relegation.

When asked about investing in the team, Gold suggested the best he could offer immediately was that no-one would need to be sold. Also said they had an imbalanced squad full of midfielders with no cover for strikers/defenders.

Gold also added that he wasnt a hire & fire type of chairman, as history has proven that those who stick with their managers always outperform those who change every year (or month in our case). Wonder if anyone in HQ listened to that?

I'm genuinely happy for the Hammers, always had a soft spot for them as my old man came from that neck of the woods and he supported them.
QBP 20th August 2009..."To be fair, I'm glad we are top of the table (for agents fees). Shows we are not a selling club anymore."
