  • Is there a successful English side with a Sporting Director?

Also which other sides actually have one?

I am beginning to get so frustrated with how this season is turning out.
First game: Arsenal vs Queen's Park Rangers at Highbury, Saturday 17th November 1984.

She was a Managing Director and was not involved with signings. Brum allow all their managers to do the buying. Another great result for them tonight.

The only one I know of and consider to be doing an "alright" job is Barry Fry at P/Boro.....The difference between him and Gi Gi de clownio is that he is a football man having managed at many many different levels for many years in comparison to an ex-football agent who is shrouded in controversy and everything he touches turns to mush

It's incredible that clubs still persist with the role.

In almost EVERY example, it clearly doesn't work, particularly in English football... and should be ditched at QPR.
Just like at Spurs. They cottoned on, eventually.

But as I've said in another thread, saying that just sparks off the old "GP Debate" on messageboards, when it's not actually about him... but it always end up that way.

I wouldn't want a Director of Football role in place at QPR, no matter who was in that role. Full stop.

Appoint a top manager, give him a free reign within a set budget... and watch the gates rise.

                          There's your ultimate poll.

Another one on some website wont make a blind bit of difference.

It never works in this country, it is a completely farcical position usually created to make room for someones ego until they fail miserably and get driven out of the club!
