    1976

Stan Bowles scores a brilliant third goal for Queens Park Rangers in their 3-0 home win over FC Cologne in the UEFA Cup. It is his tenth goal in European football this season - a new record for an English League player.

Sadly, Rangers lose the second leg 3-0 and go out on penalties but Stan ends the tournament with 11 goals to become the highest-ever scorer in the competition.

Stan, whose wonderful skills and showmanship helped make the mid-1970s such a golden era in Rangers’ history was voted all-time cult hero by the club’s fans in 2004.

Former Rangers star Don Givens described Stan as ‘the most talented player I ever played with or saw in action’. Certainly few footballers have had a single released bearing his name, in this case the October 2004 release by the The Others!

Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

We lost to AEK Athens, in the quarter finals, on penalties.

Cologne were spanked, good and proper.
