Fans, myself included, always say that but its nowhere near that simple. Look at Hull. The premiership brings big revenue but massive expenditure, too. Hull's wage bill has gone up over ten times since their promotion and is now an incredible £40m a year. If they get relegated, even with the parachute payments, they are stuffed. The economics are very, very, tricky and come with big stakes.

                That made me chuckle
                Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
                And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

Depends how strong/weak you are if you get promoted, hull were very weak and a suprise promotion team....they have bought a load of players to try and keep em up, and prob gone over the top with wages to get players to move to the shoit hole that is hull.

The point is, any money you gain in revenue by being promoted to the premiership you end up spending - there is no extra profit to be made. Just much bigger stakes. Of course I'd like the board to splash the cash as much as the next fan, but its plain wrong to make out it is some simple economic equation. That said, having spent so much already I think the board only needs to spend another few million and they cd have a promotion winning side.

I don't think we should loan any more players as we need to start investing and building for the future...

A couple of decent strikers and a left back would be my choice.

He always seems to have an absolute blinder against us. I remember the 1-1 draw a year or so ago at Selhurst, he must have saved about 5 one-on-ones! Would be a great signing..

                              Hull?

Not a good example. I'm sure a few 'interesting' stories will emerge in due course!

Fulham would be the most logical illustration.

Well Fulham (dare I say it) is the kind of example we wd like to emulate but the point is there is no guarantee, as we found the year we were relegated from the premiership. Unless you are one of about half a dozen top clubs you always have to build into the equation the possibility you will be relegated, and then how you will survive with a lot of fairly average players you have paid an average of £5m quid for on 40K a week who you can't even get rid of on free transfers. I say all this just to point out its not as easy as some assume.
