    Leon Best.....

His contract at Coventry runs out next summer and Strachan is after him after seeing him score against Middlesboro. He is only 23, 6'1",and was CCC player of the month for September, pippng Matty Fryatt .He got the vote as he was oustanding against Bristol City,Sheff Utd,Middlesboro and Watford netting 5 in 4. Worth considering ? Didn't do a lot in his early career apart from 10 in 15 for Yeovil and was on loan to us for 5 games. But at 23 he's now coming in to his prime and finding the net.

Agree. Also a very strong player that would hold the ball up. A little like Agyemang but better
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Didn't we have him once in the 04-05 season?

10 goals in the last 2 seasons - including only 2 last season.
A bit "flavour of the month", maybe??

          Just a thought.

I'd be interested. Obviously playing out time on his contract in my opinion. Along with Boro, Newcastle, think we are in the mix

It's ok... he's scored all his goals at this "level".

So clearly better than Beckford, Barnard or Jackson.

                  All very odd, but hey-ho....

If the price is around £500K, he might be worth a gamble.

He has time on his side and does hold up the ball quite well, along with reasonable heading ability. But I really think QPR should be bidding for better goalscorers if they really have ambitions of going up.

I think Best would be a decent addition if we could pick him up for relative peanuts.

I'd prefer Beckford but Leeds are asking for silly money hence why he has let his contract run down.

Have a feeling Beckford will end up at Newcastle in January.

Well Ollie touted him as being "the next Les Ferdinand" when he got him on loan but he did little then to justify.

Having said that - look where Southampton are now and he was on loan from them!

I recall him saying his dream was to play for Notts Forest who he's supported since a kid.

If we get him then where does DJ Raheem fit in?!?!?!?:waaaht:

i swear there was some thing being said when he was on loan to us that a fan asked him if he'd sign perm and he laughed and said not a chance...

Robbo, I've not said he's better, but he's better than you give him credit for. He's still young. A very similar age to when Luis Saha started to come through as a top striker. Kevin Davies who although not prolific became noticed at 21. My point being, some mature as a footballer late and this could be his season. Good player who could offer us plenty. Cheap option, maybe but not a bad one. We need 2 strikers to add to the squad so Barnard, Hooper etc are still a good shout mate.

To be honest Benny, it was more of a sarky dig at those who write off League One strikers who score 20/25 goals a season... and yet have no problem with a Championship striker who scored 2 last season, and 8 the season before.

                              The old "levels" debate again!
Maybe I should drop the sarcasm and subtlety, and be more blunt... but I can't!

Best is an ok player, I'm sure he's is better than Pellicori, so that's good enough for me. Could even be a good buy.
