    Lee Barnard

I know Nodge has been singing his praises, but he certainly took his chances very well. Looked a class above Div 1.

      Not good enough.
I would much prefer Hooper who I might add, destroyed that weak division.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

He might be a class above div 1 but we need a striker who looks a class above the championship.

Dougie Freedman sometimes looks good for Southend.Barney is good but not good enough.

            Lee Barnard.

I know his name has been mentioned several times before, but I notice he's now top scorer in the league below us.His 2 on Saturday makes 10 for the season so far.At 25 and 5'10" he didn't do much in his earlier years with Spurs or out on loan to various clubs, but with 32 in 64 for Southend (one every other game in a tight league) he appears to be clicking.

He's miles better than Hooper is terms of technique, finishing and general play.Hooper only trumps him on aerial presence. Plus Barnard would be £1m cheaper and is only 23, not 25 as GJB mentions above. Southend are in an almighty financial hole.

Our last two home games, we have scored 9 goals. The way we played on saturday - we could have scored 9 more.Although it is still an ongiong concern about getting another striker in - i would be quite happy with grabbing someone like barnard.Sometimes taking a chance can work out.Failing that - Lets go out and get Akinbiyi,Adebola or akabusi..
