I think it's just the fact that we all know Jimmy will not, under any circumstances, change his formation. So we're trying to put a team together using that formation that we think could grab 3pts, as 4-4-2 or 3-5-2 seems far too ridiculous to even consider that Jimmy would use it.

I don't think we have the wing backs to play the 3-5-2, Ned, Caulker and Hall would maybe work in the middle however!
