gets it by default i think Hubbs. Seems people really want an Englishman as manager ad we are in a time where their aint much choice around. much prefer him over Bruce and does seem to know how to get a team winning.

Going to be interesting to watch as he most certainly has a different style to those in recent years, perhaps a fresh approach is whats needed.

never had a team that is going to dominate the ball as much as England tend to so will need to show he can change his tactics.

I like him. His Bolton team played some decent stuff.
It's not as if we've been playing tiki taka and dominating for the past 10 years. We've been cack and generally had no fight. At least he'll get us fighting and put a bit of passion back in to the team.

None of these flash young players will have the balls to give it large to him, they will listen to what he tells them.

Actually think he might do a good job, can't be any worse than the muppets gone before him, (Robson & Ramsay the exceptions)
Will play to English football's strengths, has got the better of many foreign coach led prem teams.
Give him a go, hopefully will weed out the big egos and get us playing with heart and determination, like Iceland/Wales

The advantage of Sam is that there will be a Plan A and a Plan B, and everyone will know what they're supposed to be doing.

The disadvantage is that he has little experience of coping with high quality international competition: zero champions league form, zero representative form as a manager, and imo his teams have had a tendency to go too deep when faced with real quality.

I think the FA would be insane to rush this appointment, and should be looking everywhere, including overseas, for possible contenders.

If it's going to be an Englishman, I know he's been out of work for a while (maybe busy with his academies) I don't think Hoddle done anything wrong, football wise, last time around. Made more sense than most, if not all of the other pundits during the Euro debacle and apart from having the respect of the players for his technical ability, he wasn't restricted by playing only one formation but was capable of adapting to suit the oppo. Before slating me, I did say if it had to be an Englishman, and I'd still prefer it to be so if i'm honest.

it needs a manager to instill a bit of backbone to the side. Sam fits the bill. Problem is the players are less professional than they were 20 years ago. Money, money, money

I thought the best suggestion was Guus Hiddink until after the world cup (which I think we basically write off anyway) with Eddie Howe as assistant and taking over as manager after that.

Portugal's manager never managed in the Champions League - hasn't seemed to be an issue for him.
