Think you also have to accept that whilst fluent in English he may make a few literal errors when interviewed. What I do know is he is building a side that is very difficult to beat and with a few more tweaks will be a decent side next season.

This is the way we should be looking at it.

That wasnt unbelievable but the fact that JFH considers Mackie a striker is a bit unbelievable. Perhaps he should statt with Polter and Washington next game.

Adapted plans? You realise that we also had to list our team at the same time. If you are planning to play against a 2 striker formation, you plan it throughout the period between the last match and the current one. 1 hour before kick off, you think he could have adapted plans well enough? c'mon mate. It's not even an excuse, it's a statement of fact. We went there expecting (as we should have expected) to be playing against a team favouring two strikers. Nothing wrong with that,

I agree that Leeds caught JFH by surprise. That's why clubs announce their teams as late as possible.
Perhaps JFH can do something similar next game and start with Polter and Washington.

Warnock, Hughes and Redknapp saw him as a striker during their time so he's in good company plus Mackie himself says he wants to play up top. I personally would not play him anywhere but can't knock Jimmy for playing him where everyone else has and where he himself thinks he should play

Even if you can't adapt before the kick off, you should be able change formation in situ. Mourinho for exmple was a master at responding to opposition set up changes as they happened and while I don't expect that level of game reading from JFH, I do expect him to have the competence to change things accordingly at some point between being handed the team sheet and (say) half time.

If a draw at Leeds (recently beaten by NW's mob) is what we aspire to these days (as some in this thread maintain), I don't think that's a ringing endorsement of the situation.

quality managers deal with precisely this kind of scenario all the time, that is why the are hired. Part of their job is countering opposition strategy, often as it unfolds on the park. You know all this perfectly well.

A draw at Leeds is not an aspiration, it's just a decent result.

I'm sure Burnley, Hull and Cardiff would have been grateful of a point there if they could have got one.

They've lost heavily in some Yorkshire derbies, just as we have West London ones. So it's a difficult one to compare our result against them to say a Rotherham/Huddersfield. Would have been nice to get a win there, but a points still a lot better there than the draw we got at Bolton.
