Surely smithies will be our number 1 keeper pretty much for the rest of the season even if we dont sell green.

His contract is up in the summer and there is no way we will look to keep him on the type of wages he will want. Club cant be naive enough to activate a contract extension.

Greens been a good servant but time to move on and I imagine someone is having a word in JFH's ear to say smithies start from now on or when Green hits 29 games.

maybe i'm being a bit dumb, but if we don't want to trigger this contract extension, why have we picked him for every league game that he was eligible for this season and even for one league cup game?

Pick your strongest team all the time. He's got 4 or 5 games to go before the clause triggers and there is a transfer window open to get rid before it does. No harm done.

Only issue is the media have picked up on it and that could affect a transfer fee. Worst case, drop him a game before the clause activates.
