    BLUE FLAG DESIGNERS ANNOUNCED
Posted on: Thu 08 Oct 2009
Chelsea supporters attending games at Stamford Bridge will already have seen it in the Matthew Harding End; they will soon see it in The Shed, but now the winners of a competition to redesign a big blue flag have been named.

A request went out for ideas to replace the flag thanking Guus Hiddink from the end of last season and a huge response followed, many entering via the Chelsea website.

Entries came from every continent and countries as widespread as Turkmenistan to Chile.

Two winners have been chosen with a combination of their ideas used. They are Tony Retberg and Bivin Mathew and each will receive a pair of tickets to a match of their choice.

The flag has been displayed five times so far this season, at the away matches at Sunderland, Stoke and Wigan as well as two matches at Stamford Bridge where supporters in the Matthew Harding Stand upper tier were proud to display the colours prior to the games against QPR and Liverpool.

The legend on the 75ft x 35ft banner reads: 'One Life, One Love, One Club' in descending order between two club badges with 'Carefree Since 1905' along the bottom.

Whilst this 'new' flag has been designed specifically for use in The Shed upper tier, its use in that stand depends on the size of allocation of tickets the away club takes. It is expected to make its debut in The Shed prior to the match against Blackburn Rovers later this month.
