I'm guessing he worked hard on his trial, fitted in, didn't cost a lot and as such was worth having around as back-up if Sandro, Fer etc did get snapped up. No real harm done in my opinion. he'll go out on loan and in all likelihood go on a free at the end of the season having not cost us a lot!
