Queens Park Rangers bid to host the World Cup football matches at the potential 2018 tournament in England has moved a step closer after a promising 2nd visit from the FA.
The FA has to choose a number of stadiums from 16 prospective cities and representitives from QPR including Sporting Director Gianni Paladini tried to ensure that their Loftus Road stood out from the others.
John Holmes, chief executive of city regeneration at the FA said: “The day has gone well and the inspectors were very complimentary about Shepherds Bush . We have covered a lot of ground and it has been very interactive – they have challenged us on a number of points and offered potential solutions. Loftus Road would provide the perfect venue for smaller group games with it's location so close to central London.
The tour began with a formal briefing at Hammersmith Town Hall , before the inspectors were split into three groups and shown the Loftus Road Stadium, Shepherds Bush Market, training facilities the Westfields Shopping Centre, and Nando's Chicken Restaurant on Uxbridge Road.
The city’s proposals for hosting the tournament include extending the ground to hold 19,000 people, floating hotels and huge “fan parks” to be held on Shepherds Bush Green
