    ROWLY IN EIRE SQUAD
Posted on: Sun 04 Oct 2009

Martin Rowlands has been called up to the Republic of Ireland squad for their forthcoming international double header.

The R's skipper was initially placed on standby for the squad, but has today (Sunday) been confirmed in Eire boss Giovani Trapattoni's party for their World Cup Group Eight qualifiers against Italy and Montenegro on October 10th and October 14th respectively.

Rowlands - who was sent off in the R's 2-0 defeat against Swansea City on Saturday - will meet up with his international team-mates on Tuesday.

Deserves it. Apart from yesterday, has been outstanding for us this season. Plays well with better players.
First game: Arsenal vs Queen's Park Rangers at Highbury, Saturday 17th November 1984.

Delighted for him, would love to see him get a chance. He could bring more to the side than our current midfield pairing.
