“The toughest part for me is being sensible now. I need to pick and choose when I go [forward]. I want to always go and chase everything but now I have to be more sensible and think about it more.

It comes with experience and as you get older, but it’s probably one of the things I need to work on most in order to keep playing for many more years. But I’m enjoying every minute of playing again. I feel good and when I’m on the pitch, I feel alright – I just want to put it all behind me and concentrate on playing now.”

“The toughest part for me [after all the injuries] has been having to adjust my game –knowing when to go and make a run and when to stay, for instance. I will have to continue adapting to that, because I always want to be an exciting player chasing everything around the pitch and winning the ball, but now I have to be more sensible.

I’m enjoying every moment so far – I have to, as you don’t know what is around the corner. I don’t want to get too excited though, so I am just taking it day by day, game by game. My main target is to be available for selection for the gaffer, so I am happy I have fulfilled that so far and long may that continue.”

      Agreed.

Would love for him to play the full season proving all the naysayers wrong.
