West Ham were one of the worst sides down the r's last season and I didn't even know he was playing he was that anonymous. We are a couple of signings away from being right in the mix

Top signing for boro. Don't think it's a major reflection on the league more a boy hood club thing for a player whose earnt millions and now at 30 wants to go back to his club.
Respect him for it as there was prem interest in him. Will be a big player for them.

If we keep Phillips though I'd be more happy than having Downing.

My thoughts too really, had impressive stats for West Ham last season but whenever I saw them play he looked pretty shite to me... Never really turned up for England either (Although that doesn't too much!)

Agree with op, absolute bargain. Always creates chances and stats show this year he created how than golden stats sterling.

Most people said a key to west hams early season form was because he was pulling strings in the hole behind the strikers. It changed when Sam's obsession, Nolen, got fit again and he insisted on playing him as per usual.
