    Note (proven pedigree) !

Paul clement ticked all the boxes, ok he hadn't managed a team before but he has worked with some of the best players in the world, you don't get into that position by chance.

It's done now there's no going back but that doesn't mean the choice made was the right one. Signing two one kids from Swindon won't make us world beaters like some deluded souls believe

In reality, Paul Clement would have been as a big a roll of the dice as sticking with Ramsey. Great pedigree and experience as an assistant, for sure, but that actually means nothing at the end of the day though. Brian Kidd, Ray Wilkins, Carlos Quieroz, Rene Mulensteen, Gareth Southgate & Steve McLaren to name a few have all done great things and worked with world-class players as coaches and/or number 2's but have struggled with the top job. This theory that being a number 2 at a big club automatically means that you will go onto be a great manager is a myth, the Manager's job is a whole different ball game.

For years all I have heard is fans complaining about our transfer policy, the lack of youth players coming through, our reliance on older players etc. Finally we have been given a manager who looks at things differently, wants to give youth a chance, wants to pick up players from the lower leagues and develop them and some fans want to get on his back before he's even picked his own squad. Give the bloke a chance FFS!

Are you suggesting a young progressive manager like clement wouldn't have invested in youth players and bought from lower leagues? Stop kidding yourself by inventing imaginary reasons based on assumptions.

Ramsey has only ever worked with youth players at a low level, clement has worked with the worlds best. There is simply very little comparison based on both their experience, hence why your making up silly justifications.

I grant you, neither has any managerial experience, but based on the reasons above only an idiot would have turned their noses up at clement.

Hate to say it, Derby will storm this league and come may I will be bumping this post to reiterate my point.

Well let's hope for your sake that the team you claim to support doesn't do well so you can prove your point and Derby storm the league.

Sorry but you are hyping Paul Clement up based on nothing but assumptions mate. The truth of the matter is that nobody knows how good Clement will be as a manager, just like nobody really knows how good Ramsey will be once he's put his own squad together!

Come on Tarbie surely you're making the assumption that CR wants to give youth a chance and pick up lower leagues players it might be the case that's what he's told to do , If we go to far down that road it will be a recipe for disaster as much as our recent past has been , balance is the key essential and only time will tell if he will be his own man and insist on players from all leagues

I see a guy that did the best he could with what he had last season. Don't forget that a bloke who less than 3 years previous was odds on favourite to be England manager walked away from the very same squad cos he knew he couldn't keep them up. Ramsey was on a hiding to nothing.

I don't disagree that that all we can do is wait and see and hope for the best. I just don't think Ramsey has done anything to warrant the sort of negativity that he is getting from some people at the moment. I also think he has a better chance of succeeding with the support of the fans!

Jack Robinson? He's a left back and will be back in contention by Christmas with a bit of luck.

At right back we only have Darnell Furlong and Michael Harriman, who hasn't signed a new contract yet (and possibly won't). I would imagine we'll be looking to bring in someone at right back this window.

Fair enough. But the fact remains that the damage was done far before Ramsey took charge. In my opinion Ramsey deserves a chance to prove himself, with his own squad, and I really don't see the point of getting on his back based on less than 20 games last season.

I also don't buy into the point the Wealdstone Raider was making that Paul Clement would have been a far superior appointment than Ramsey. Both are unknown quantities and both could go either way. For the record I would have gladly had Clement here. By the same token I'm not disappointed by the appointment of Ramsey permanently.
