There's a saying that if you're good enough then you're old enough. For us it's the reverse, most people seem to think that if you're young enough then you're good enough.
We've found this year that when we have played the youth they haven't turned out that well. In fact some of our best players over the past few years have been the oldies, hill, dunne, helguson, nelsen, green etc.
Our youth structure has been woefully underfunded for at least a decade and then ruined by Mike Rigg all over agin. With that in mind when we have had younger players as fans we haven't had the patience with to let them develop and realise they will make mistakes. It's almost like we want young players BUT they have to be the finished article. Names that spring to mind over the years are ledesma, parejo, Carroll and even this season players like McCarthy and caulker have taken a lot of criticism. -
Very good post, and very true. There's a saying that if you're good enough then you're old enough. For us it's the reverse, most people seem to think that if you're young enough then you're good enough.

I'm all for the youth coming through, but they need good foundations and I'm not sure they get that at QPR at this moment in time.

And of course some of our best young players tipped for the top by people outside of our club just didn't turn out that good. Kerslake and Parrett spring to mind although Kerslake was some time ago admittedly.Comment
