Garth Crooks' Team of the Week

Who is likely to be a transfer target? Which player should be scoring more regularly? And who is peaking in their career?

    Charlie is in it.

The description is a bit harsh on him, saying that he may not be able to cope with the pressure of playing for his country.
"What stats allow you to do is not take things at face value. The idea that I trust my eyes more than the stats, I just don't buy that because I've seen magicians pull rabbits out of hats and I know I just know that rabbit's not in there." - Billy Beane

Actually saw Garth Crooks after the game in C Club having a glass of red with Sir Les and Efan Ekoku. Having watched the game live he would have been hard pushed not to put Charlie in his team of the week!

I agree. Not sure Austin is good enough for England. Big fish in a small pond suits him I think
          Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
          And many more mistakes

The bloke seems to get better with every step up he makes, so can definitely see him doing well for England.

As I said before, Charlie can play in any league. He has a footballing brain and has that player instinct to be in the right place at the right time. It's not all about skills on the ball.

I so badly want to watch him play for our country but at the same time I'm scared of him getting injured, we need him so badly.

What I love about him is that he don't think he's better than anyone else, he just plays football and enjoys it. It's not about the money, and players all around the world should take note!

Last time I see Garth Crooks he was John Motsons awkward wingman before he in a sheepskin peeled orf with an atrocious looking brass in Slovakia .

He started slow for us. Took him a few games to get going but he's been banging them in ever since. My concern is that England fans or manager won't give him that time to get going, and will expect him to be firing immediately. But once he gets a few England games under his belt he will start scoring no doubt.
