Is it ok to swear in the family stand?

Haha, remember when my old man used to take me. We were in the loft behind the goal with Harold bishop and his mates. My dad told me 'son, you are going to hear words that y.ou won't have heard before.
Those words stay here and don't take them home or you mum will kill me'.

My 8 year old Grandson has a season ticket in the Loft with me and his Dad, with the don't tell ya Ma rule, If people wish to shield their young from the riggers of the game that's what the Family stand is there for. You pay your money and swear or don't swear!!

I think swearing in front of children is wrong.if you are in a part of the ground that is for children and you are swearing then you are a plum.

Ok, I am too old for this kind of childish behaviour, it's always the few who spoil it for majority, I am having fun discussing things as it's the international break and there isn't much happening, and some people start abusing you even though you never said anything to them.

I guess the problem is that whichever forum you go to, there will always be the few there too who are spoiling it for the majority. At least in the pub if you come across an idiot you can walk away, online I guess you just have to tolerate it and I really am not in the mood so it's probably best to find something else to keep me busy this evening.

How long ago was that Hitman? I remember a glasses wearing chap called Harold and his mates when I was in the lower loft.

It was in the late 80s -early 90s. Right behind the goal.
Don't think his real name was harrojd but we all called him that as he was a dead ringer for the guy on neighbours.
We also had two stinking tramps down in front of us. There was a 3 yard clearance around them as they often dropped stinkers.

Forgot to add yep, he wore glasses. Sounds like the same bloke luner.
We all ended up going our Seprate ways when the seats went in. My last game there was against arsenal, we verbally ripped seaman a new one.miss that atmosphere now.

The thing about the Lower Loft is any part of is no more than shouting distance from another stand, what about the swearing from those areas. Can hear lots of expletives from the upper loft where we sit in HL but it doesn't bother me, don't think my kids even notice.

If not.. Please remember it's the FAMILY stand... I know people swear and shout in other areas of the ground (as is their right) but in this one area I would think maybe people could refrain.

Let's face it, the words to the songs that get sung cannot be masked by sitting in the family stand. That is why, like Hits and others on here, those of us that take the kids find ways to deal with it.
Mine is similar, my lad's been coming since he was 3, home and way games and I didn't want to move away from my pals into the family stand so once he was old enough to start listening to what was being said it was the "what you hear at football stays at football" line, And the minute you start to repeat it or use it as language yourself you simply wont go to football any more.
He's been going ten years now and whilst I know he shares "language" with his mates at school, typical of teenagers, he doesn't dare to share it at home, around his mum or his little sisters
