        I think walking away would look better than getting sacked. If it is done with dignity, he can come out of the situation looking good.

        Ian Holloway knew he wasn't good enough to keep Palace in the league, he walked away before the club was truly doomed and he dropped on a new job straight away due to his honesty. If Redknapp turned around and said the Championship promotion took too much energy out of him and he wouldn't have the drive to inspire and motivate the players, he would get a free pass in the media and would walk straight into a tv/radio job no problem.

        Alan Pardew is another example. He should have walked away from Newcastle a long time ago but is hanging on to get a juicy payout. These last few months have probably hampered his chances of getting a job in the near future. He will leave will no dignity and it's fully deserved.
