Harry offered contract extension according to Sky

Contract extension seems premature. HR needs to prove to us that he can build and run this team, at this level. Although HR did manage to get us promoted last season, it was by the skin of our teeth. HR failed to prevent relegation in the previous season, which marks a clear failure. The standard of play that we have so far seen under HR's leadership is not enough to keep us up this season. He needs to show us something better, soon.Last edited by Joon; 27-08-2014, 12:53 AM.

One cannot help but feel like falling through the pages of a Kafka novel. Even those of you who think that our results will improve somewhat (and I do hope they will because a second relegation would be disastrous), can you still imagine Harry staying in charge for several years now? He will walk or be sacked at some point before the generous new contract expires and this will mean even a bigger pay-off to him and our debt is not getting any smaller. And I was really starting to believe that Tony has grown wiser...Originally posted by Felt View Post...apparently Tony has confirmed it will happen within the next few days on SSN...Banning people is no longer my hobby,

Thought Fernandes said he had learned? No need for a new contract when he has one already.Originally posted by Felt View PostCan't be bothered to read the whole thread so this might be old but apparently Tony has confirmed it will happen within the next few days on SSN while discounting the Les Ferdinand rumours.

Cant see Harry lasting the season so i just hope this new contract doesnt increase his pay off. Money for nothing...a speciality of TF and the board but they claim to have learned.Originally posted by MYU View PostBut 99% of all managers will walk or be sacked at some point before the new contract expires?

Maybe let him see out the current contract first? Or is the current contract insufficient motivation for him to lead us in the PL? In that case this should have been resolved in May or June. It would only make sense now if we were playing satisfactorily and the board were afraid of losing the manager who performs well in the PL, but zero points and minus five goal difference after two matches is hardly a catalyst for a new contract offer.Originally posted by MYU View PostBut 99% of all managers will walk or be sacked at some point before the new contract expires?Banning people is no longer my hobby,

The thing I don't understand is what WE will get out of giving HR a new contract now. If his current contract is to the end of this season, which I believe to be the case, what is the harm in waiting until Christmas to see how we are doing? If we are rock bottom and 10 points adrift of safety, will we feel inclined to give HR a new contract then? But if we are mid-table and going well that changes things.
As I said, I don't see why we need to do it now. Are we afraid that if we don't he will refuse to sign one later and then jump ship at the end of the season (as if there is a queue of clubs waiting to sign him). I doubt it!'Only a Ranger!' cried Gandalf. 'My dear Frodo, that is just what the Rangers are: the last remnant in the South of the great people, the Men of West London.' - Lord of the Rings, Book II, Chapter I - Many Meetings.
