I guess that's the lure of the Champions league. What can we offer? A relegation dog fight and a harsh cold winter

The long deal finalized inside a couple of days shows how quickly deals can be done if the will is there. Affraid money talks and whilst Fernandes change of tact on the transfer front may be welcomed there has to be a happy medium. Will cost him more in the long run if we are found wanting and go back to the Chsmpionship, that or he will simply walk away.

To be honest a little worrying that he seems to also be cutting back on training facilities and the like.

If we go down i fully expect the TF to foxtrot oscar, with his legacy being a massive debt.

          to himself
I disagree. That would be a huge blow to his credibility.

To date, can you name a player we have missed out on due to this new tact in the market?
            Kept the faith!

As you seem to want to spin a perfectly reasonable comment about transfers as being negative I will provide your answer. There are several actually, some have been widely publicized others not so much so. Issues over both fees we are prepared to pay and wages we are offering. Ferdinand very nearly did, Bryson, Sidwell, Garcia from Spain certainly failed for those reasons and several others are currently under negotiation, Fer, De Guzman, Van Der Vart, Sigthorsson, Deeney, Diarra shall I go on?

Lol, those players are worth breaking the bank for eh? As for the ones currently being negotiated, come back when they have broken-down, we have to cut our cloth accordingly.

                    ENOUGH OF THE JOKE CLUB!!!

I am very pleased with the deals done, let's see how everything else goes before casting judgement.

                    Ps: thanks for the update.

Guess that's depends if you are in the manager should select the players camp or the Chairman decides. Redknapp clearly thought they were all worth going for!

What's with the "Enough of a joke club" comment all about????

Paying stupid wages to average players, come on mate.

If we lose out on De Guzman it will be disappointing, but that's how the transfer market plays out sometimes.
We've brought some quality players in, and I'm sure we'll bring in a few more before the market closes.

Also, Remy may stay and that is an added bonus that few people expected.

Apologies California thought you were suggesting it was something I had said, my mistake.

Do agree re the previous prem season but that was for older players with little re-sale value. There is always risk in the transfer market but it's not like a low cost airline, quality counts, and that cost money particularly when in competition with others who will pay top dollar ie Southampton and the long fee
