  • Harry planning on playing 3 CB's this season

...like he did at Portsmouth, according to his latest TS interview.

Between Rio, Caulker (which sounds imminent), Nedum, Dunne and Hill.

He mentioned this would also work well with having two pacey LB's (Traore & Yun) who like to bomb on.

Sounds like we'll be seeing a lot of 3-5-2...

Make you right all except for one point - Traore and Yun, as you know, are both left sided. Simpson is our only specialist right back and solid though he is at the back he looks very uncomfortable going forward. Without a right back who is able to get up and down the pitch I wonder if with five at the back we cd get over-run in midfield - unless, with that Johnson rumour, we are after another right back. But that wd mean dropping one of the solid players from our Championship team that we thought cd make the step up. Tricky.

He made specific reference to just our LB's, highlighting their attacking qualities. So it could be that he has a similar RB target in mind.

If we can keep Remy and concentrate on getting a few additions/options in the middle, I'd like to see us play 4.4.2.... but a 3.5.2 with Yun and Simpson as WB would work. The one thing that is essential IMO if we keep Remy and that is to play 2 up front (Austin and Remy).
        SIR LESLIE FERDINAND!!

Now Arsenal have bought Debuchy, we should go for Jenkinson (is that his name? can`t be bothered looking) always looks good whenever i`ve watched him, he`s young too.

This is exciting. Also remember that Ferdinand can push up and play DM.

I think he tried this formation twice last season with very bad results

Both times with no Charlie. And with Hughes on the right (!). And no Rio.

I thought this might happen, because if we get Caulker, I can't imagine that Nedum will be dropped after such a solid season, he's proven himself as a very good centre half. Rio, Caulker and Nedum will be the 3 in defense imo.

I'm not sure I could watch us play 3-5-2 against City !!

Regarding the wing backs, I reckon he means he'll play both Yun and Traore, but Traore on the right..he did play there a few times last seaon.

Just thinking exactly this as I was posting on the 'Rio for captain' thread'.........Ned surely must be played.

the switch to 3 at the back (3-5-2) means he can play 2 up front and still have 3 in the middle to control the game. Its how liverpool were able to play suarez and sturridge together without leaving themselves overrun in the middle. 4-4-2 is too open and allows the opposition to dominate the middle of the pitch if they have 3 in there. Think Harry may have 2 new WB's lined up for this formation but we certainly need a couple of CM's with the legs to get up and down

Apparently Harry just said he'd be looking to play a back three of caulker, rio and DUNNE, this is according to ssn. No mention of ned.
