Tony Fernandes has sold his controlling stake in Formula One team Caterham to a consortium headed by former driver Christijan Albers.

Aha. Not a single point in 5 years. Backing QPR is more exciting anyways.

This was the right thing to do, in F1 if you don't finish in the top 10 you make nothing.

BMW, Jaguar & Toyota left the sport for the same reasons and they are manufactures, not an easy sport to get into.

Without sponsorship you get nowhere and like you say, all the money goes to the top 10 teams. Caterham invested loads in 2012/13 to develop a car for 2014 but their investment was a drop in the ocean to what the big boys got in sponsorship and therefore spent on development. Evidence of their improved car is the fact they are completing most races with both drivers but they will never compete.
Uncle Tony made the right choice and was true to his word - that if he couldn't improve their standing, he would find more suitable investors and move on
