    National Anthem

Own up who stands up before the game and sings along with the players

I have to admit to doing so

Always. And belt it out n all.
"The kids missed everything from Queens Park Rangers to Conkers".

London Pride has been handed down to us.
London Pride is a flower that's free.
London Pride means our own dear town to us,
And our pride it for ever will be.

I never stand for the British anthem because I'm English, not British. You don't see many Welsh or Scots do it either, so why should the English?
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

Our anthem is s##t it's not for England it's a British song that's why the other GB nation won't play it, because it's not relevant to them! I.e it's not English, we need something with a bit more passion ! why only save the queen and I have nothing against Liz but we're like. Damp squibs half of them don't want to sing it
Maybe something different like Jerusalem, land of hope and glory ( which actually is the English national song) they'll always be an England, or maybe even a new song ?
          GET SOME PASSION GOING
Everyone else seems to have a passionate Anthem,

Relentless. It is the English national anthem as far as I'm aware. It's also the British anthem.

I'm sure you'll correct me though.

            Edit:

            I'll correct myself. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_anthem_of_England

It is the English National anthem. Name one country who has the same one?

See the Wiki link above, that confirms it isn't the English anthem, but as there isn't one, it is the most used one.

I still say the Archers theme is jaunty, uplifting, as English as it gets and doesn't require singing just a joyful dum-dedum-dedum-dedum dum-de-didly-dah! Perfect, and would have everyone happy and optimistic every time

Ladies and gentlemen, please be upstanding for the National anthem of England

apologies i didnt see that. I dont see how it can be the British national anthem though, Wales and Scotland have their own anthems.

Presumably for when we compete or are being represented as Britain or the UK.

We should rejoice in the fact, that as dull a dirge as it is, it at least irritates the hell out of the 'English not British' mob

The way we play football. I reckon our national anthem should be the Adams family tune

The tune of God Save the Queen was used in the United States with the words My Country Tis of Thee as the national anthem before the Star Spangled Banner. Children in the US still sing it first thing in the morning before they start their lessons.

Also as many of you know Land of Hope and Glory (which has been suggested as the English national anthem) is used for graduations in the United States.

However having said that, I think people worldwide recognize our national anthem and it is easy to sing. Anthems like the Star Spangled Banner are impossible to sing, and generally sound awful when sung in a stadium setting. Also there are continuous discussions as to whether is should be changed to something like America the Beautiful.

A lot of Australians do not really like "Advance Australia Fair", so I guess this is not just a problem in England (or Britain).

Worst thing we could do is change the national anthem. Imagine how 'PC' it would have to be to keep every one happy and to accommodate everyone's bull$hit beliefs and religions just so no one gets offended. Unfortunately the passion and pride of being English is slowly going.
