I kind of agree with Stan on this. I always thought Welbeck was $hit, best resemblance of an ash tray on a motorbike. BUT after last night I'm going to keep an open mind on him through this tournament.

Welbeck is underrated imo. Not as bad as people make out.

Welbeck for me is just the new Heskey.

                Not exactly a striker,not exactly..................

This. Once the young guys have played together a few years we should see improvement. Thought we were good last night. Not expecting anything at all from this tournament.

England played alright and still in it. Need to win the next two but that is possible. Next match is critical but Uruguay are in disarray. If we win that one I would fancy us very much against Costa Rica, and I'm sure 6 points would see us through.

Need a more balanced midfield though - defensive midfield let us down against Italy. There were a few times when an Italian was in oceans of space thirty yards from goal, including on their first goal, which was the tactical equivalent of "fools mate" in chess.

Hodgson has done a good job overall though and on the plus side this was one of the most enterprising England teams I have seen at a World Cup. Don't give up yet!
