Yeah, would say he would be just about the closest they would be able to get bar maybe Yann M'VilaOriginally posted by Nick View PostAgree with that, but what I'm saying is De Jong is the closest type of player to Vieira they've ever had..... that is of course if they actually sign him.

That's true lets just hope Arsenal turn their interest to M'Vila.... De Jong would be some signing though. If we're to spend quite a bit of money on one particular player I wouldn't mind it being on him, even though its not an area I'm to concerned about.Originally posted by Shepherds Mush View PostYeah, would say he would be just about the closest they would be able to get bar maybe Yann M'Vila

If you read my post i didnt say "Holding role" i said varying deeper midfield positions if playing 433. In other words if the front 3 were for example, Giroud, Walcott and Pudolski, the deeper 3 could be any of them.Originally posted by WeAreQPR12 View PostOzil and Carzola couldn't play a holding role, what the hell are you smoking?
I'm not saying De Jong isnt exactly the type of player they should sign and play, because i think he is, but my point is Wenger doesn't tend to worry too much as wants ball players over ball winners, hence he more often plays Arteta in that role, who im not sure has ever made a tackle!! That's why against any of the decent sides this season they got anihilated.
He even played Oxlaide Chamberlain in that position away to Chelsea..... which says it all.

See my above post. I'm not disagreeing, just highlighting that with Wenger, there is no certainty he would be a starter, regardless of whether he should be.Originally posted by stanistheman View PostOzil Carzola Rosicky deep midfield roles, you are kidding surely? Diaby makes Zamora & Johnson's injury stats look good!.
Arteta has played in the deep holding role but not really excelled there. I think Ramsey has shown he is far more useful in an attacking role and Wilshere is not really a holding midfielder either, although he could fulfil the role if he wanted to (whether he tays fit is anothyer issue).
So really the only one who can probably play that role is Flamini, but de Jong would be a better option for them.

Bang on.Originally posted by WeAreQPR12 View PostYeah because Arsenal are flooded with ball winning leaders.????? ffs.
He will be a starter at arsenal and exactly the type of hard nut they missed this year.
He is exactly the type of player Arsenal need and the more flair type midfielders Arsenal have will be playing with and around De Jong each week.
The fact that anyone is suggesting he could join or potentially join QPR over Arsenal is laughable.

agree but he isn't a Wenger type player imo. Which is probably why he is what they require. Wenger has a strange record doing business, very hot and cold. Would be an obvious choice but Arsenal interest is a very long way from Arsenal player. Just sayin.Originally posted by SammyKojoe View PostThe fact that anyone is suggesting he could join or potentially join QPR over Arsenal is laughable.
