    Hangeland,Williams,Ferdinand,Fonte,A N other

I assume R's are looking for just one new CB,and these four have been identified as potential targets. As recent as this mornings Mail confirms that Ferdinand had meetings with Villa but they do not intend pursuing a deal and that the player prefers a London club with Spurs his first choice.Hangeland has burnt his bridges with Fulham and he's now been sacked by email and we hear conflicting reports on who Williams next club is likely to be.Who would be your choice?

Well I personally would hate to see hangeland as it wouldn't be any better than what we've got
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

I tend to agree with you.He asked to leave as he didn't want to play in the Championship, yet he was part of the team that took Fulham down.A couple of years ago he was OK but now seems past his best.

Exactly that and yet it would be massive wages and a free which will feel like de ja vu when things went so horribly wrong. I think williams would be a good long term option as he would be the answer over 5 years. Ferdinand has the key attributes but he does have plenty of injuries in his locker with persistent back problems so not a route that would be worth taking and fonte also a v solid signing like Williams who is proven

If Williams is available it has to be him all day long in my eyes. Big strong athletic, 3 years prem experience in a very good footballing side and still has plenty left in the tank.

Williams and Fonte would be my top two choices, think we've got enough experience at the back so there's no real need for Ferdinand on big wages in my opinion.

I would think we need at lest 2 if not 3 to be on the safe side (if Hill moves into a coaching roll)
