    Simpson

I have seen that he quite often is struggling positionally.
His effort is top notch and I believe he is a great character to have in the team, but do we need cover??

    Any suggestions?

Thought he got badly exposed by Ward on Saturday, far too slow

He is fine & a proven PL steady player. Won't exactly be a Pablo Zabaleta, but he is a steady RB that will do a decent job for us.

Play Off Final was one of his weaker games, it must be said. Think we have more pressing areas to be looking at this summer though.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

On e of the positions we don't massively have to worry about. As Marty said he won't set the premier league alight but will certainly hold his own and be dependable.
We do need cover for that position though but a direct replacement I'd say no.

If we want to establish as a premier league team he needs replacing. His OK but well out of his depth against half decent players. As mentioned he was dreadful Saturday, but apart from the centre backs and keeper the whole team was.

Very harsh mate, been a decent player and was fine for Newcastle in the premier league. We don't play man city, Liverpool every week. More than good enough against the likes of hull, palace, burnley, villa ect.
Players like Simpson will be key to us this year. There are far more other positions we need to worry about recruitment wise than rb.

              Ok^^

Have to say I want us to buy to buy defenders With pace from on. If we have pacey defenders it easier to prevent us being played to deep,IMO.

Don't think I am being harsh maidstone, just realistic. I personally do not believe that just because a player is british, kisses the badge, flys into tackles, and is a crowd favourite automatically means they are good enough to play in argubaly the toughest league in the world if they are not good enough. Trust me I would love players like Simpson, Hill, etc to do well as they in Arrys words 'the right sort' and good clubmen, but I am a realist and IMO of course, apart from a few of our current players the rest will struggle badly in the prem. Trust me I hope I am wrong and we can use Crystal Palace as an example, but for me unless we invest heavily we will be in for another relegation battle unfortunetley.

I know what you mean and your right just think this first year back we shouldn't replace certain players for the sake of it. We need to keep some cohesion from this season. Players like Simpson, green, Barton, Austin & Onohua yun, Phillips should be first 11. All can make the step up and we won't lose our identity this time.

I respect your opinion mate. Just think players like Damien Delaney and fashion for place held their own last year and Simpson could certainly do that. I just don't want to see the team this year completely dismantled. We need new players to give us a decent chance but personally Rhodes wouldn't be highest priority for me right now.

I wouldn't want Rhodes either as who is to say he can make the step up? I mean he could and bang 20 goals but more than likely he won't. For me if I was in charge of the club I would do all I can to keep Remy as he is a proven top European finisher. D!ck head or not he will score us our goals that will hopefully keep us up or push us on further.

We will see what happens anyway mate, it is going to be a interesting summer.

Agreed. With this issue in mind, we have to spend our money wizely this time.

Simpson is ok, not world class but fairly reliable

all players are going to have tough games, but generally he's fairly consistent
