as much as i love the memories - Mackie wasn't PL. Granted nor were we, that's why we went down - but we were looking to build a team that was. for that reason he had to go.

As said though - he'll get a very good cheer from me.

Exactly this. Very limited player that really wasn't upto PL football, but he showed us in our promotion year he more than does a job in the Championship.

Was a great servant to us in his time here so hope he gets a good reception, & no doubt he will.

Terrible decision to let him go. Bet he wont celebrate if he scores tomorrow.

One things for sure he's a lot better than Zamora, Johnson, Maiga and Keane... not sure about Doyle though.

Not good enough for the PL? Did a lot more for QPR in the PL than Park, Granero, Bothroyd, Zamora, SWP, M'Bia and Hoillett though !

The bloke was a class player and one that we should of kept hold of - very poor decision to let him go - its a joke that anyone says he was a terrible player.

Don't think I would go that far

Limited but definitely one of our better players in the prem, bar remy and maybe cisse we weren't really going to get a goal scorer any better than Mackie. We played him on the right, bear in mind he's a striker so he did look dodgy at times. But whenever he drifted into a striker or central position he always scored!

not being mean to the guy but the mackie loving is getting a bit excessive. its not like henry returning to arsenal or drogba to chelsea the guy was with us for what 3 years?? its not like he is a rangers legend. hes an ordinary player at forest now. the fact that the majority of our squad didnt try made him stand out more. commitment and effort yes he was top but ability, id prefer niko, morrison, in fact anyone of our players who played in the false nine or wide role like he did for us
i supported qpr in the glory days when chris kiwomya and michael ngonge played up front

He was shite more than good ability wise but I'd NEVER have Niko K over him. He's absolutely tosh & one of Redkraps biggest disappointments from his OAP signings. Overweight, sluggish, loos like he's wearing lead boots, can hardly shoot, rarely hits the target & all round flop. Has a good eye for a pass. That's it for me.

That Championship team was a special one that holds an important place in our history. Not only was Jamie Mackie part of it, his goals earned us many points, including the one at Derby that arguably set the tone for everything that came afterwards. He will always have a special place in our history because of it.
