Well, I thought it was a foul but clearly the ref didn't and that's all that matters. He is a seasoned/experienced pro and the ethic of the game is play to the whistle - he failed to use his experience to heed that ethic and also, he should have released the ball far earlier than he did. Therefore, the op is wrong, it was his fault but then I haven't castigated him so it makes no odds to me
