Phillips has been hit and miss and from what I can gather has a history of being very inconsistent . He's certainly getting better though and gives us a genuine threat which I think we've lacked a bit . Hats off to him second half he was very good .

Pants first half but he must have got a right seeing to at h/t cos he was a different player. That and Niko coming on which improved the whole shape and composure of the side.

Looked v short of confidence first half, had an opportunity to run through but preferred to cut in and pass the ball back. But second half looked a different player and great to see him running at players and taking them on. Not in Townsend's class imho but has the potential to be a top Championship player. Whether he can be more than that,the jury is out.

I asked a spurs fan the other day, he said Andros is up and down

Andros is much better and more consistent, even if he's having a bad game he'll still create a few good chances for himself or the others. Phillips is a lot more inconsistent, can go missing for most of some games and then be amazing for the remainder.

One is an England International and plays in the EPL. The other does not.

This. I'd have preferred Andrex first half rather than Phillips. I noted he didn't mind celebrating his goal in spite of having played for the Seasiders....

Regarding the comparison though Townsend delivered more last year than Phillips has this and he seems to be doing ok this year too and broken into the national side etc so it is a bit of an unfair match up at this stage. But Phillips did very well second half and if he can play like that regularly then he will be a big asset.

better comparison might be routledge. imo routs did more for us second half of our promotion season than phillips has done for us in the first - but a few more performances like that and I'd be happy to eat my words.
