The Championship is the place to be, finances aside of course. Much more competitive league with proper fans. Shame the carrot is promotion to the closed shop of the Prem, where beating relegation, for some teams, is deemed a successful season.

Don't think so mate. High ball lofted into the 6 yard box & Cesar just stood rooted to his line, could & should have easily come and claimed that.

Totally agree with Ed on his previous post. Albeit all academic now anyway, but we went into that Villa game off the back of 2 straight wins, and started well in that. Had we made it to HT in front, I have no doubts we would have won that game and been 1 point behind Villa with the wind in our sails. As it went, Villa went into the interval with their tails up and took all 3 points leaving us 7 adrift and all but down.

Anyway, all in the past now eh.

          Completely agree with Godfrey.

We was just plain & simply rubbish!!
So many new faces & no gelling as a squad. Only a small handful of players that actually gave a shlt. We simply deserved to go down.

BUT this season is so much more different to last. We look stronger, not only as as a team but as a squad. Everyone wants to be here, everyone wants to play for each other.
We still need little bits of improving, but I 100% believe that will happen.

We had a great squad on paper last year but when it came down to it we were sh!te, there was no chemistry between the players. We were just a mess. Getting relegated with Harry was a good thing because he knows how to put together a good side with dedicated players. If we go up and Harry leaves, we now have a decent 'core' within our squad that can be built around...hopefully properly this time, Warnock had to build around his core with **** players he didn't even want because of the whole takeover situation.

Villa, Fulham and Wigan. Three games we could and should have won. But hard to say if those +8 points would have been enough. The end of the season was free falling.

                  Not unlucky at all.

We finished comfortable bottom, and never really looked like getting out of it, apart from the first 40 odds minutes at Villa...

I genuinely believe we deserved what we got.

Have said it a lot but we were very rarely tonked by anyone but we defended for 90 mins most, if not all, games.

Would bet we could beat Palace, Sunderland, Norwich, West Ham and Fulham with the team we have this season though.

We were sh1t. End of. So sh1t that, in hindsight, being relegated was the best thing that could have happened to us (provided we go up this season.....).... If we'd stayed up we'd be watching those dislikable muppets like Mbia, Boswinga, Samba, Cesar, Anton et al each and every week this season. Yuck. And we'd still have been rubbish and would have struggled. Don't get me wrong: the PLs where its at, we've got to be in it. But we've temporarily regressed in order to (hopefully) progress..

Financially maybe, but not in footballing terms imo......see post #16

If being in the PL means we have to fill our team with eleven M'Bia's, I tend to agree with you TW. Or any eleven foreign mercenaries of his ilk. But being in the PL makes us relevant and of interest to others. It means we're talked about, which I find fun. And we go to great grounds and see top players.....
