We have had a good start to the season but have certainly ridden our luck in most games. For me though I always look at the team and count balance between the creative players and the guys who will pick up the piano and move it (words of a currently unemployed ex manager of ours)
Green doesn't count for obvious reasons and neither does our forward as he's too advanced to be able to create. Barton, O'Neill, Henry, Dunne, Hill. All hard working but very little in the way of ball retention and creating problems for the opponents. Most sides have at least 1 CB who is comfortable and/or quick with the ball. Most sides play 2 upfront with 1 dropping deeper to create. Most sides have a creative CM player. We rely too heavily on Hoilett & Kranjcar.
Harry wants us to be honest and hard working with a good team spirit and be difficult to score against. He's done a great job of that in a very short space of time considering we have a lot of new players. For home games we have to start playing 2 upfront and we have to have someone in the middle who can play a quick pass forward. For me we have Faurlin or Kranjcar for that with Barton CM. We need to get Onouha back in the team as he is quicker and given the license can start the ball moving forward more efficiently than Hill or Dunne.
We have to realise that with the right training and attack minded stance we have too much for 90% of the sides in this division. We have to start being more fluid and this is the only way.
