Smokescreen. Last minute there'll be a striker through the door.

Wouldn't really surprise me. You can always see players you want if you look hard enough. But saving some money to spend in January, when it might be really needed, makes a lot of sense as the club is obviously not spending the same way it did under Hughes.
Plus theres always out of contract players if you get caught short. I would like to see a challenger for Zamora's job, doing the physical stuff and hold up play, but if that player isnt about it is difficult to see anything really broken in the current team that needs urgent attention.

He's half right. It's good to have players competing for places but its not so good when the majority are very good players who could be playing for most other sides in this division. Need to get the balance right which I think he has. On the other hand if we don't get another striker in I fear for us until January.

With the signings Harry made, I think he is taking in the view that we may play just one up top, Austin, Zamora or Johnson with Kranjar / Carrol / Hoilett sitting just behind them, meaning a striker isn't really a priority at the moment. Different opposition will require different formations and we may occasionally go 442 but I really think this is the way we will go hence why no strikers were bought in the window.

Looks like the youngsters may get a chance.

Wish if we can loan out some unwanted players.

Still think we need a loan striker
                      Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
                      And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

I agree, but we can loan one up until almost the end of November if need be. If Harry's planning on only playing one up front Austin and Johnson should be enough.

To suggest we wont be aiming to take one. His normal tactic is to shout to the media who we may have in mind and then lose out to another club. If we named players then another championship club may snap them up as more likely to offer guaranteed games than us.

Harry did mention that we missed one before deadline day, he didn't want to say the players name so I guess he'll be coming in on loan.

                            Just one loan I think.

I dont think we need to use the loan window to bring several players in, like we have in the past. One good striker would be enough.
