Well Cole is on a freebie. I would take Baird & Cole on 1 year deals to see how they do.

Completely different Matty. Zamora and Lambert have never been quick or nippy! Lambert was one we looked at when he was at Bristol Rovers and passed at (thanks Gianni!).Originally posted by MattyRangers View PostVery unbiased descriptions there...
Rewind a few years and a very similar comparison could have been used to describe Rickie Lambert & Bobby Zamora. Look at them now.
Wells is this season's Beckford or this decades Trevor Senior - seen quite a bit of him. Just not good enough IMO.Meet me by the railway tracks

Agreed. In addition I think someone like Cole (or Drogba/Adebayor/Crouch who are out of reach) can create space for the creative fast players to do their stuff.Originally posted by Johnny Tightlips View PostNakhi Wells - never played outside of the 4th tier (aside from 5 games this season) and takes 8 chances to score 1 and another nippy striker with limited aerial threat or presence @ £3m minimum

Carlton Cole - England international, experienced PL player, aerial threat, holds the ball up and FREE?
70 minutes gone and the opposition are parking the bus defending deep in numbers and all the creative, fast, tricky players cannot break them down.
If you bring on a player like Cole then the opposition have a choice to make - either they push out or stay back. If they push out there is more space for the tricky fast creative players to work in. If they stay back then they get bullied in their own penalty box which they will like even less.
So the big guy can force the opposition to open up which creates space for the all the nippy/tricky/fast players to work in and strut their stuff.

Just for a bit of balance - Wells is quick - knows where the goal is (but chance conversion IS poor) and obviously young and has a bit (not bags IMO) of potential to improve. For the money Bradford want, any club willing to front up in excess of £3m is taking a large gamble.Meet me by the railway tracks
