Freedman wasn't one we missed though was he. Back in the day when we actually had a decent scouting network! Our Doogie was an impetuous youth who wasn't afraid to abrasively put his views across to GF!

care to enlighten those of us who dont this story.

All i know is that we had someone in our youth team who would have pretty much replaced Les, went on to consisetntly score goals (more than once hitting that mythical 20 mark) and we let him go on a free to Barnet

Freedman was banging in the goals at a pretty consistent pace for the youth team and the reserves at the time. Francis and Bulpin, overlooked Doogies merits and instead relied upon the experience of Penrice, White and, bizarrely, Garry Thompson to fill the shoes of Bradley Allen and Les as and when the need arose. Freedman wasn't shy about letting the management team know about his exploits. Don't think patience was a virtue and the rumour mill at the time had Dougie exploding when Gallen was picked ahead of him. Allegedly all ended up in fisticuffs and Doogie was packed off to Barnet.
You could say both parties were at fault there.

Wanchope scored a hat trick in his first reserve game. Seem to recall it was a header, a tap in, and a good finish after a mazy dribble.
It was a fantastic display for a player new to this country.

Houston then decided not to sign him because 'he's not what we are looking for'!!!!!

Possibly one of the worst managerial decisions ever (by one of the worst managers ever).

What he meant was, 'I have got my thoughts trained on a highly overated striker who will cost as a club record transfer fee, so no, I don't want a crowd pleasing goal scorer thank you very much'.

I thoroughly agree with your last sentence.

never knew that - always thought he was spurs through and through.

walk - any word on the loan striker?
