There was a problem where the servers are held, hopefully it's sorted now, these things do happen from time to time.

(It was nothing to do with the site being busy this time)

Any chance of a refund for all of us????

If we were in the USA we would all be able to sue you for millions for the stress and anxiety caused while the site was down (in the worst case scenario it may have resulted in some having to speak to their other halves which could have led to domestic rows- Your fault!!!!! If Factos marriage don't go ahead he will be holding you responsible)

Cheers! Cant go into the nitty gritty details of why the server had to be moved. Suffice to say it had to be moved from one London colocation facility to another at very short notice due to a technical fault that could not be resolved quickly.

Unfortunately since changing IP addresses was out of the question (long time to live on name server settings due to not expecting any changes) the traffic had to be re routed at the bgp / ospf level up to the new data centre by my colocation provider. This should all have 'just worked' but due to a 'configuration fault' with the backup point to point circuit going to the new location traffic could not reach the server. It took a couple of hours for them to trace the fault back due to the size of the rest of the network. Hint the colocation provider I use owns and operates www.tvcatchup.com.

I'm working on a backup plan in case something like this occurs again.

Should of tried using some Sellotape. Normally fixes everything that requires a bodge job fix!

You'll need to know this then going forward Matty. Use FireFox and install the plugin found on this site www.annommox.net. It'll mask your IP when the gov brings in this new powers for p0rn viewers!
