Park did it quite good towards the end of the season. But Redknapp replaced him. Donīt ask me why.
Who says it is an ideal situation to come from Man. Utd to QPR and being made captain when you are an quite introvert person, at least on the pitch.

If I remember correctly he had 4 assists out of 17 games or something like that. Not good by his standards but that's a better game to attack point ratio than most of the others in the team.

Still could have done more and deserves his share of the blame, but not more than the average player in the team.

It did not help that he was not played on the wing, but I guess HR felt he was more needed in CM.

At man United he had class players who he could just give the ball too but at qpr he obviously doesn't have the same calibre of players so he has to do a bit more with the ball which he hasn't got the quality to do

3 assists in league games, 1 in Carling Cup to total 4 assists for the season. 25 games played.

Tied with Taarabt for season total of 4 assists. Of course, Taarabt played 35 games and had 5 goals to show for it. In minutes Taarabt probably got twice the playing time and the team was played around him. Park was not played in an attacking role by MH nor HR, he was positioned at CM. I'm not questioning their decision to do so, but since Park was not played on the wing, it is not reasonable to expect more end product from Park as a CM.

In contrast, Mackie had 2 goals and 1 assist in 38 games. Granero had 1 goal and 2 assists in 31 games. SWP 2 goals and 1 assist in 22 games. Jenas 3 goals in 19 games.

I think this is like the third time I've had to point this stat out. Shows just how much Park has been ripped on to make you guys think he had only 1 assist in the entire season.

Rarely tackles and just "harries" and seemed to jump out of tackles last season. Like already pointed out he was the work horse for UTD (when he had the legs to do so) but no ability and that really shows when playing in a team like ours. Hasnt got the legs to be a work horse anymore so what to do with him?

I know you two have repeated the jump out of tackles and bambi on ice comments, and I won't argue against your claims.

I think it suffices to say that Park was considered a great asset in defense (in addition to the given role of attacking from wing), and that the term "defensive winger" came into common use to describe him since his early years at Manchester United. That particular term was not used for any other player at Manchester United and Park was widely considered by staff and teammates to be an excellent tackler.

Not saying that he was able to bring that same performance last season, but I think it's silly to imply that he lacks defensive ability. Granted, his legs are slowly wearing out -- but they're not gone yet.

I don't think he will figure much this season. Is being used for publicity (see Air Asia dinner). So long as the Club is not paying for all that, it's fine by me, especially if he brings in more money than we pay out.

Yes, you and others have repeated that as well. However, there was no such career-ending injury. It was a less serious but chronic problem.

The manageable but chronic problem with Park's knee caused SAF to "save him up" for big games (especially in his last season at Manchester United). SAF felt that if he played Park day in and day out, his knee would be more prone to injuries and eventually it could be destroyed. Since he had signed Young, SAF played Park less and tried to use him for the big games; this did not pay off in the end as the reduced playing time was detrimental to Park's form when he was suddenly started after a long stint of getting no games.

Park felt that he could start and play more than SAF deemed was safe, which is why he wanted more playing time and decided to transfer to QPR at TF and MH's behest. It's true, Park's knee is slowly deteriorating, and it may be affecting his workrate. However, I disagree that the condition is bad enough to say that Park is "finished". I think I know this player better than you, Northolt, so excuse me if I don't take your word for it. I'll leave that to medical and HR.

Also, I think it is a gross understatement to say that "Park served a purpose in certain games for United", he was instrumental in Manchester United winning many key games, including those that determined the outcome of league and CL. He consistently contributed each season.
