Is age a major factor THIS season..

I have read a few posts recently reasoning why people would rather stay clear of signing older players.

    E.g. Parker, Crouch

But, just to remind you.. Shaun Derry is now 35 and Clint Hill is 34 soon to be 35!

When they signed for QPR they was no younger than Crouch or Parker are now.. and boy didn't they do an epic job for us!! (Still are in actual fact)

No doubt about it, Parker and Crouch are better players and we are now able to attract these because of our owners and coaching staff.

We thought Neil Warnock was mad when he signed them Dezza and Co but it was exactly the players we needed. So I suggest we take some experience and workers on board to get us back up to start all over again.

We shouldn't be looking at the age of a player, we should be looking at whether or not he is the right player.

If he is the right player that we need to play the formation that will make us competitive and will get us up then we should sign him, be it young or old.

If we sign 8/9 young hungry English players- we won't go up. Same if we sign 8/9 older players.

There will always be moaners, doesnt matter who we sign. You cant please everyone and everyone is an 'expert'.

Doesnt really matter what some say on here, the signings that are made will havehad zero influence from the people on this board.

For a championship club we have a good manager and good owner. Time to get behind them for the new season.

It depends if we want to go up and start all over again as the older players wont be able to produce the form in the prem hence there respective clubs letting them go now.

              Personally -

              We need to start again.

We need to chuck out all the over paid players who genuinely dont want to be here and re-build. The board have clearly learnt that we need to take smaller steps. Bringing in youth is fine, but just the right mix of it.

Keeping one or two top players maybe worthwhile however e.g. Remy (If you can persuade him haha)

It isn't about getting loads of older players or loads of young players, you have to have the right balance in any team, mixture of youthful exhuberance and experienced heads then you have a winning team, get us up and then start to replace a couple of the older heads slowly,i trust in harry and believe what he's trying to do,about time some stopped moaning and got behind him !!

Age only matters in retrospect. If we sign Crouch and he bangs in 20 goals and Parker has an immense season, then they're great signings.

If Crocuh scores 1 and Parker sits on the treatment table all season then everyone will say we signed players that were past it.

Just chill out and wait and see who's in the squad come September.

it's annoying when people say stuff like 'let's wait and see'. It brings the debate to an end if people took notice.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

Best thread and replies I have seen on here for ages....

Everybody makes good points. The balance has to be there but at the same time we won't have any real youngsters. Anyone under 21?? We have a lot ages 23 to 30 which would suggest they should all have experience. Imo a lot of them are show ponys. Traore, adel, hoilett.

These lads have played a lot of football but don't show it... Nobody plays with any responsibility.. I think we need a captain who they all look up to. Clint Hill has been great but I bet the squad don't look up to him. Rightly or wrongly they don't..... For me, this needs addressing.

We need to start again exactly how we did before. squad of 25 playing for each other and for the club...
