Who the **** would want a player of that standard on them wages? Only someone utterly clueless would have paid £12 million and given him £60k or £70k a week.Originally posted by kingy10 View PostWe are trying to get rid of him but no interest except in Russia and he doesn't want to go back there.

Maybe so but the board ain't daft, 60, 70, 80....100k...whatever he's actually getting paid it is way too much for the Championship. There are sides in that league paying their whole squads for not a lot more than 100k a week. I guarantee you that if the board could get what they paid back, Samba would be sold in a heartbeat!Originally posted by OneEyedWilly View PostI thought TF was talking about building a team around him? Personally think he is exactly what we need going forwards, just needs to get fit.

I understand why people say about wages but I didnt think our goal was to setup a team to stay in the championship? Why sell off PL level players and fill a squad with championship or even lower league players? That will just ensure we stay in the championship.Originally posted by Tarbie View PostMaybe so but the board ain't daft, 60, 70, 80....100k...whatever he's actually getting paid it is way too much for the Championship. We definitely need to shift the players that havent got the right attitude but I didnt think Samba was one of those. We need top players to get us out of this league not players that have been stuck in it. Signing Danny Simpson was a brilliant move but we are going to be limited in how many top flight players we are going to attract now. I would rather see the club keep SOME of the players than bring in a load of average joe's.

Tony himself said in an interview he's not on anything like the reported £100k in the press, and if we go down he'd stay and there's a clause in his contract that his wages would be reduced. Why build in such clauses if the resulting amounts are too much to manage.
Personally think this is complete BS and he'll definitely be with us next season. In that division I wouldn't be surprised if he scored 10 goals tbh, especially if we manage to sign a player who can take FK's and corners.

Do you not think long ball Championship teams are more adept at dealing with a big centre half at corners and FK's than a Premier League footballing side?Originally posted by Del View PostTony himself said in an interview he's not on anything like the reported £100k in the press, and if we go down he'd stay and there's a clause in his contract that his wages would be reduced. Samba never looked like scoring once last season, admittedly our set plays were THE worst I have ever seen at any level of football, but still he was never dangerous.
BTW 100% not BS.:drunk:

Yeah they are, and he's bigger and uglier than the lot of them. With decent balls he will score goals and win nearly everything no matter who he's against. AS you say, our service was pathetic this season so not surprised he rarely got a sniff, bar Villa when their keeper had a worldy.Originally posted by kingy10 View PostDo you not think long ball Championship teams are more adept at dealing with a big centre half at corners and FK's than a Premier League footballing side?

Ref BS, not suggesting you're source is making it up, just I don't think it will be the case given what was stated by the chairman. We should build a defence around him.

Exactly as somebody has said already, the Championship is alot more long ball, and winning headers is something Samba revels at. If we keep him he will be a beast in that division. A very overpaid beast, mind, but still a beast. You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

You think Samba is Premier League level? based on what? been relegated twice and had 1 decent season with Blackburn. Poor mans Danny Sh1ttu. Wont get rid of him and get our money back so may as well keep him but ffs dont "build" a team around him cos he just aint that good.Originally posted by OneEyedWilly View PostI understand why people say about wages but I didnt think our goal was to setup a team to stay in the championship? Samba is on 65k a week. Samba is not leaving. FactUnder Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
And many more mistakes
LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO
