A "search" is basically a 5 second pat down, save yourself the trouble mate, let em do it and in you go. They probably search 10% of people who go in, thats over 1000 people every matchday. They probably cant be fuked either, but its their job so let them be, and enjoy the game!

Without knowing what was said, this sounds like a classic case of a jumped up little pr!ck of a steward abusing the one tiny bit of power he has in his life on a Saturday afternoon. Stewards don't have the power to deny you entry because you hurt their feelings!!!

I'd suggest you send your story to the FSF. As a rule, football fans are treated like criminals and the FSF does a good job of fighting back on behalf of all decent fans.

With that said, you may as well get used to being searched on a match day - it is an unfortunate sign of our times. And I'm pretty sure that they don't need to give you a reason and that they are within their rights to search anybody at random - and it does need to be this way to allow them to do their job.

The old man passed on this piece of wisdom when I was a youth .......

'never back chat a copper OR a bouncer'

The jist being they are usually mob handed and out for an argument, it took me a few years of learning the hard way to realise he was right !

I think 72 you could do with following his advice, doth your cap, call them sir, let them give you a little touch up AND grin inanely to yourself while thinking about his minimum wage crappy job and just be thankful you (hopefully) have a more fulfilling meaning to your life
"Steve, do you think 25k is a good option when there are indications that within four years, new stadiums on average have increased attendances of 60%?
For us that would mean around 29k."

Never had a problem with them, I have to say. Letting them do their job is the easiest thing all round.

Always carry a small backpack. Always get searched and for the sake of a few seconds inconvenience it's never been a problem.
Do agree that the plastic bottle drink thing annoys me as hate having to guzzle it as I approach the ground. Pretty sure 99% of people buy a drink to drink, not to chuck at a player. And how may plastic bottle of Fanta injuries have there been in the history of the game to justify this stupid rule?
Was asked by a steward if I had anything likely to injure him or cause him pain in my bag.
Told him it was okay as I'd left the girlfriend at home.

Only problem I've ever had with being searched was in South Africa road (turnstile by the club shop) when the bird searching me purposely stroked my groin area in a seductive manner and then refused to "seal the deal" when I asked if there was any chance of a handjob, and even had the audacity to call me a "sex pest" and "pervert" that "needed professional help". I can't stand teases.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.
