With 10 men holding a 1-0 lead you are obviously going to a) protect Remy for the next game and b) introduce a player that will chase lost causes and hassle defenders.

Sometimes perceived strange decisions come from managers knowing the injuries (we don't know of) that certain players are carrying all season and trying to juggle on a match by match basis. Some players have to play thru their recovery periods because of no better backup which leads to more injury complications, a lot of clubs do it.
