Yes Granero can make some neat passes (normally fairly short ones) but the problem is he is too easily tackled - dispossessed 44 times it says. That is why he has been dropped.

Not sure why the article is harping back to Barton - clear he has not future at the club (unless we are relegated perhaps).

A massive and consistent problem I'd say until very recently - not having shots and not supporting. If you don't have midfield coming forward (initiating / supporting ) the goals just aren't going to come. That's why 4-4-2 doesn't work for us - the front two have to hold up for about half an hour every time they got it..... slightly different with 4-5-1 because the support get there that bit quicker. In theory.

The reason why midfield didn't support enough was because we shipping goals behind.

shows Barton and Granero are most effective going forward, impressed with Derrys defensive stats considering thew lack of games. Mbia and Grenero would be the dream pairing if you went with stats , thats why they are alot of the time useless (are u listening Hughes)

Hughes often played 4-5-1 and QPR couldn't score goals then either.

QPR's midfield is not as bad as many would have, even if they don't score anywhere near enough.

The main problems QPR have had this season have been the awful (almost non-existent) defending at set pieces and the lack of a centre forward to challenge Zamora and Cisse. Had these two areas been addressed properly in pre-season by signing Samba and Remy or another decent striker, QPR would be sitting in mid-table now.

Under Hughes' management the defeats to West Ham, West Brom, Stoke and Southampton plus draws with Everton & Reading were down to poor defending more than the midfielders being overrun, dispossessed or not supporting the attack.

Both West Ham & West Brom's 1st half goals were defensive errors, as was the Stoke winner and all 3Southampton goals. Everton and Reading both scored due to lack of marking at set pieces.

In my opinion Faurlin, Granero, Park, Diakite, Mbia and Derry whilst not particularly impressive, have been made scapegoats for the poor defending, especially at set pieces. Had the defenders defended properly and not conceded those goals the midfielders would have been left alone to play and gel as a team rather than the constant chopping and changing Hughes often chose to do to the midfield as if that would address the defensive problems.

Credit where it is due though last 3 games Park/Mbia/Jenas have done well. Don't see anything better on the bench myself.

CM is a key area on the pitch and has been a weak link which explains the pursuit of M'vila/Cole/Sissoko/Kranjcar/Capoue in January

Simple things show this like how Jenas looks impressive. If that is what a player who had not played a top flight game in 2 years and was on loan at forest before January can do - what on earth have the other CMs been up to all season.

Completely agree. Too many individual mistakes by the defenders has cost us dearly. Made us lost game we could have won and kicked us out of the cups.
