An absolutely unbelievable day once again yesterday, as we found two more big priced winners in Roaring Forte (advised at 10/1) and Littlemisssunshine (advised at 16/1). Not only that, but Jargelle returned us some place money finishing 3rd (advised at 20/1). It could even have been better, as Indian Art went down by just a short head at Chepstow. It all added up to a +25.5 point profit on the day, and profit for August is now up to +71.73 points.

Today’s bets:

1.45 - York - Classic Vintage - 2 pts win. Available at 5/1 (General)

Over today's longer trip and with a six pound pull in the weights Cosmic Sun will be expected by some to turn the tables on Classic vintage after finishing just over two lengths behind him at Goodwood last month. However Classic vintage also suggests he will be suited by this longer distance and, although Cosmic Sun was gaining on him at the line in that last race, the selection was doing diddly squat once he hit the front. He can sometimes race lazily and hit flat spots but he cannot afford that luxury on this track. He is up seven pounds in the weights but that wouldn't have stopped him at Goodwood and he looks a progressive individual on fast ground and has the physical scope to carry on improving. The presence of Jim Crowley for the yard's only runner at this track is encouraging.

2.30 - Chester - Akhenaten - 2 pts win. Available at 6/1 (Sportingbet and William Hill)

Doesn't have the form figures of late to inspire as a winning selection but he has been running well in better races than this and he is relative;y unexposed over seven furlongs. He can be a bit headstrong so the likely fast pace should help, as will the tight turns of this track. He is well drawn to sit just behind the pacesetters and, if he settles, he can prove stronger at the business end of the race. A winner of a Maiden on his only previous visit to this track he showed a good level of form in the context of this race on good ground or faster earlier in the season.

2.50 - York - Secret Society - 2 pts win. Available at 5/1 (General)

Steps out of handicap company for the first time and probably needs to improve on what he has so far achieved to get involved at Listed level. However the manner with which he travels off a fast pace marks him down as a smart horse and, thus far, he has had no problems picking up the pacemakers in any of his races. He has lost two of his last four races on the nod and may be the sort who needs his head placed in front right on the line. Possesses a progressive profile and it will be surprising if we have seen the best of him. Stable finding winners hard to come by recently but both they and today's jockey have a decent track record.

3.25 - York:
Amour Propre - 2 pts win. Available at 7/1 (Victor Chandler)
Tax Free - 1 pt e/w. Available at 16/1 (Sportingbet)

Kingsgate Native is highly respected but he makes little appeal at around 3/1 in a race of this nature. Radiohead gets the huge weight for age allowance but he doesn't look as good as Kingsgate Native did when he won this race two seasons ago. Amour Propre had his excuses when disappointing last timeout at Ascot (lost front shoe and scoped badly post race) but prior to that had run out the comfortable winner of a Group Three at Newmarket on his reappearance. Up to that point he had improved in each of his five races and he could resume that progress this afternoon. His Trainer has few peers when it comes to sprinters. Tax Free has won (14) or been placed (11) in 25 of his 33 races. He disappointed last time out in his only foray into Group One Company last time out at Ascot but as he has finished unplaced in all three of his visits to that track he can be forgiven that effort.

3.50 - Sandown - Gold Express - 2 pts win. Available at 17/2 (Sportingbet)

4.15 - Chester - Sandor - 2 pts win. Available at 7/1 (Bet365 and Sportingbet)

4.40 - York - Buddhist Monk - 0.5 pts e/w. Available at 33/1 (General)
